ABOUT OUR CONCRETE

When Idan and Melanie Shuval drew the plans for their home in Melbourne, they were looking for a quality, resilient concrete flooring to take on their family of five as well as have a rustic texture and natural finish. After diligently book marking pages of inspiration in their pilesof global décor magazines, their discoveries lead them to a French waxed concrete flooring that has a high end European standard. The couple embarked on a long journey to the exclusive showroom of Marius Aurenti situated in the fashion and design capital,Paris.

Their return to Australia brought them an eagerness to showcase this ideal European flooring solution and through Idan’s local construction business, DTE Projects, he trained craftsmen to work and apply Marius Aurenti’s waxed concrete in their dream home.Recently completed, their renovation showcases the many applications and versatility of the waxed concrete. Idan and Melanie’s home appears as a heaven of light and sobriety, with a rustic European style.

The waxed concrete showcases throughout all three bathrooms, delicately spread over the floors, basins, showers and bathtubs, and the living room, in the shade “Grège” and “Voile” up the walls. Continuing the trend outside, the floor and entire pool surface are finished of waxed coloured “Lin” giving us an all desired feeling of relaxing by the crystal waters of Santorini. Idan particularly appreciates "the subtle effects of waxed concrete, which adds another dimension to the walls with its texture". He adds: "It is also a real pleasure outdoors.

The floor does not slip and does not heat, you can walk barefoot at the edge of the pool even in high heat. And the “Lin”colour gives the water a beautiful light blue color."

The pool surface and surrounding regions are in the "Lin" waxed concrete - creating a unique Greek look and feel while adding an electric blue colour to the water

The three bathrooms are designed in the same manner: floors, basins, showers and bathtubs in “Grège” waxed concrete; walls in “Voile” waxed concrete.

The floor of the rumpus room is also in “Grège” waxed concrete as is the unsuit floor. The bedroom floors are in light timber Oak flooring.
